The common areas of the inn include our dining & sitting areas, a large country kitchen open to all guests, and a delightful glassed-in porch ideal for curling up with a good book or just taking in the garden. An ice bucket, corkscrew, and wine glasses are available in the guest kitchen if you wish to enjoy a local wine you may have purchased. Many guests enjoy getting to know our “mutt” Willy and our 14-year old kitty Izmir (please note that the pets are never allowed in the guest rooms). Simply said, we offer a farmhouse chic home for your enjoyment and relaxation.
One of our innkeepers’ goals is to make breakfast a significant part of your stay at the Black Walnut. Breakfast begins with a fresh cup of coffee or tea, followed by a satisfying meal and an interesting conversation around the dining table. Our breakfasts include seasonal fruit (locally grown whenever possible), juice, breakfast meats, and a delicious and substantial main course. The main course varies daily, and may include guest favorites such as Georgia pecan & banana pancakes with pure New York maple syrup or our spinach-feta-and dill frittata. Breakfast is served daily from 830am to 930am. Please notify the Black Walnut in advance regarding alternate serving times or dietary needs.
